We’ve all seen those movies where a terminally ill protagonist—often battling cancer—creates a bucket list to complete before passing away. If it’s a romance, they’ll likely find love, experience moments of joy, shed plenty of tears, and then meet their fate. The Life List, a drama, follows a similar premise but with a small twist: instead of a dying protagonist, a mother rewrites her will to ensure her daughter fulfills the "life goals" list she created as a teenager

Based on Lori Nelson Spielman’s novel of the same name, The Life List is directed by Adam Brooks and stars Sofia Carson (Purple Hearts, Carry-On) as Alex Rose, a beautiful yet directionless woman working for her mother’s cosmetics company. Despite her success, Alex faces criticism from family and friends for abandoning her teaching career and for remaining unmarried in her 30s.

At its core, The Life List follows a familiar storyline of personal growth and rediscovery. Each milestone Alex completes comes with a sentimental video message from her late mother, offering words of wisdom that are sometimes touching, sometimes overly sentimental.Among the people supporting her along the way is Brad (Kyle Allen), a charming and dependable lawyer who helps Alex navigate her unusual legal predicament. The list’s tasks push Alex back into teaching, where she finds fulfillment, and also introduce her to Garrett (Sebastian De Souza), an intelligent and passionate man who bonds with her over Moby Dick and mentoring troubled teens.

I’ll admit, I teared up more than once while watching this movie—perhaps aided by the emotional vulnerability of viewing it on a flight. The last time watching at My Flixer . movie nearly made me cry mid-air was Nadaaniyan, though that was more out of regret than genuine emotion. The Life List, however, is a heartfelt drama that, while occasionally contrived, delivers a sincere and touching story. If you enjoy sentimental, life-affirming films, this one is worth a watch in Free only on https://myflixer.life/the-life-list-2025/
